THIS WILL BE A FREE HASH AND YOU WILL ALSO GET A FREE TEE SHIRT.

As if this isn't enough we will also have a swap shop.

So bring along DVD. CD. BOOKS etc to exchange.

On on (oh..the excitement. ..)

ALL ARE WELCOME - EVEN DIPLOMATS :-)

MIS-DIRECTIONS:

By Metro:

Get off at Thission metro (green line) and walk right up the hill on the pedestrian road Agion Asomaton which changes name to Apostolou Pavlou. Turn right on Agias Marinas street and walk up towards Aghia Marina church. To the right of the square in front of the church there's a path leading to a road that goes up the hill to the National Observatory car park. Meet outside the Observatory by the steps that are next to Filopappou Hill. [Maps below]

By car:

Make your way to Pireos Street, central Athens. Driving south towards Piraeus, take a left turn to Thissio on Iraklidon Street which turns onto Nileos. Be careful at the top of Nileos (now Iraklidon again) next to loads of cafes - do not follow the road around a sharp hairpin bend (on to Akamantos), but carry on (leftish) to what looks like a pedestrian walkway (cars are allowed on this section) and (in 110 metres) take the SECOND right turn - onto Pnikos. (NOTE to GPS users - Your GPS may try to take you up the FIRST right turn (Agias Marinas street) and you'll end up in the church car park with nowhere to go and have to come back down).
Follow this road uphill as far as it will go. Turn right on Dimitriou Eginitou and in 70 metres turn left which will take you up to the National Observatory car park. There are plenty of places to park there. [Maps below]

PROMOTIONAL FLYER - SENT TO EMBASSIES IN ATHENS

TEXT

Special Diplomats Hash

On Sunday 19th November the renowned Athens Hash House Harriers will hold a special ‘Diplomats Hash’.

This is part of a series of events marking the fortieth year of Hashing in Greece.

The hashing movement began in Malaysia (then Malaya) in 1937 and, despite having no central organisation,
spread worldwide partly thanks to the involvement of diplomatic staff who found it an easy way to network and make social contacts quickly.
There are presently over a thousand groups worldwide and in keeping with the casual organisation there is no membership fee,
no commitment and no obligation – just turn up and you will be made welcome.

Our weekly hash comprises a mixed group of walkers and runners who follow a pre-marked trail.
There are tricks along the way to slow down the faster runners and keep the group more or less together.
Competitiveness is not a part of hashing and slow runners and walkers are encouraged even though more serious runners can get a work out.
The trail takes about an hour and is followed by a social drink and an optional taverna lunch.
One of the benefits of hashing is you get to see places you would never find as visitors.

This special hash is free and all are welcome – diplomats or not. You will even get a free commemorative Tee shirt.

Also note: on this occasion we will have one of our occasional ‘swap shops’ so bring along any books, CDs and DVDs (yes we still use them) for exchange.

So, for fresh air, exercise and fun join us on the 19th November at 11am at The Observatory, Phillopapou – a short walk from Thisseo Metro station.
