The Trail

This year's start was at the entrance shown

Before the run

Coming from the Syntagma (Constitution) Square and entering the National Gardens

Crossing the National Gardens under the covered walkway

Doggie Style poses by the statue

The approach to the Zappion is lined with book stalls

Some of the hashers pose before the run  and walk

A lot more participants than last year. Jogging seems to be becoming very popular in Athens.

The Run and Walk

We are walking towards the starting point, Mountain Goat leads the way.

We decide to get ahead of the crowd and gather in front of the starting line - which is much too crowded.

Official cyclists wait for the runners to start

Photographers move forward to capture images of the runners starting line and the drummers

The drummers have somehow made thier way through the crowd of runners and move quickly out of the way.

The race has started and we are well on the way. Mountain Goat poses-
with the rucksack with the down-down beers which he is helping to carry.

The bottled water station - with water bottles made specially for the event.

The turn-around point

Mad Dog poses in front of a tourist bus by the Kalimarmaro (marble) stadium.

The day is warm and humid after the rains

The drummers have set up at the end of the run

Mountain Goat dances in front of the band - and the crowd

The drummers make a display of holding their drums up high

Arriving back at the Zappion front area withit's fountain

It looks so refreshing after the run

Ahhh!

Arriving back at the meeting point

The Hash Circle

Mad Dog opens the circle in the cool shade of the Zappion building

Mad Dog nominates visiting hasher KISSING-HER as surrogate hare -

Visiting hasher Kissingher is asked the usual questions

He's a good sport and good fun

Mikael is listening carefully to the vital 4th question

All well answered and a good first down-down

Bouboulina's turn for a DIO

Doggie Style gets hers -

- and is joined by Absolut

Pete the Meat (taking the photos and his selfie) gets his down-down for doing the good deed of -
registering the hashers & collecting their T-shirts & caps from the Zappion on Saturday.

Sister Absolut accompanied him on Saturday and so has to join him in the circle

Everyone got a down-down and last but not least was Pussy Basher

The On Inn

The James Joyce at last - a refuge of tranquility in the midst of the madding crowds

Annual RACE FOR THE CURE (Breast Cancer charity run) starting at the ZAPPION in the National Gardens

Race starts at 10.30 AM (but in reality after the speeches)

See attached photo (below) of where we will meet at Zappeion from about 10.15 am.

If you forgot to order a T-shirt from Clitoria then you can arrive earlier and join the queues on the day to register and take your chances. (It may be over-subscribed or no T-shirts left)

Directions:

Get to Syntagma and ask where Zappeion is..

The Zappeion building is in the National Gardens which are opposite Syntagma square and to the right of the Parliament building as you see if from Syntagma square. It is about a 10 minute walk from the square. You'll see a lot of runners walking that way - so follow them if you don't know where it is. There is a big hall to the right of the Zappion as you face it.

You can get to Syntagma by train, plane, tram, metro, bus, taxi (if they're not on strike..) and bicycle or donkey - you can also get to Zappeion Megaro entrance along Vas Olgas street.

I
AFTER THE RUN - Return to the meeting point and we'll have a short circle and then go for lunch & drinks (probably to the James Joyce Irish Pub at Astiggos-12, Theseion which is a short walk from the Theseion metro station).
