How to Download, Install & Run your Athens Hash Screensaver #1 ============================================================== Although the instructions look complicated, the procedure is essentially simple and easy to follow. The Screensaver has been checked with the latest virus updates from McAfee and is virus-free. How to Download and Save the Screensaver file (1) Click the Screensaver link on the Downloads page on the website. The File Download pop-up window will appear. Click the "Save this program to disk" radio button & click OK. (2) When the SAVE AS pop-up window appears, pull-down the "Save In" window and select the "My Documents" folder (it may already be selected). The words "My Documents" should now be displayed in the small "Save-In" window. The filename displayed in the small filename window at the bottom of the pop-up should be AH3-1.exe Now click the "Save" button to save the file in your My Documents folder. NOTE: The file AH3-1.exe is an executable file that contains the Screensaver file and its associated (small) runtime files and when run (executed) will automatically install the files on your computer. After screensaver installation the file AH3-1.exe may be deleted from the My Documents folder. How to Install the Screensaver ============================== There are four basic ways that you can install the screensaver on your computer. If the first way does not work on your computer (unlikely) then try the others. (1) Double-click the MY COMPUTER icon on the Microsoft Windows desktop. (2) When the "My Computer" window opens, double-click the C-hard drive (C:) icon. (3) When the C:\ window opens, double-click the My Documents folder. (4) When the C:\My Documents window opens, double-click the AH3-1.EXE icon. -OR- (1) Run WINDOWS EXPLORER. (2) Pull-down the Address window and click on the C-hard drive (C:) icon. (3) Double-click the My Documents icon (4) Now double-click the AH3-1.EXE icon in the C:\My Documents window -OR- (1) At the bottom of the screen click Start, then click Run, and then click Browse. (2) Pull-down the Look in: window and select the C-hard drive (C:). (3) Click (highlight) the My Documents icon in the view window and click the Open button (4) Click (highlight) the AH3-1.EXE icon and click the Open button. (5) You will now see C:\AH3-1.EXE in the Run pop-up window. Click OK. -OR- (1) At the bottom of the screen click Start, then click Programs (2) Scroll down until you find MS-DOS Prompt and click it. (3) The DOS screen (with a black background) will appear. (4) At the C:\Windows> (or other C:\ ) prompt type cd \ (or CD \ ) and then press the Enter key (5) A new prompt will appear C:\> (6) At this C:\> prompt type cd mydocu~1 (or CD MYDOCU~1) and then press the Enter key (7) A new prompt will appear C:\My Documents> (8) Now just type ah3-1 (or AH3-1) and press the Enter key. (9) A dialogue box will appear. Click off the box on the black background and it will be hidden. (10) Now at the C:\My Documents> prompt type exit (or EXIT) and press the Enter key. (11) The DOS screen will now disappear and the Screen Saver dialogue box will be exposed. For all the four above procedures: =================================== Any of the above procedures will load and run the screensaver executable file from the My Documents folder. The Setup Screen Saver dialogue box will pop up in the middle of the screen. Just click the OK button. The screen saver file AH3-1.SCR will be installed in the directory C:\WINDOWS. How to Activate the Screensaver (1) Click the Start button at the bottom of the screen, then click Settings, then click Active Desktop, and then click Customize my Desktop. (2) The Display Properties window will now be displayed. (3) Click the Screen Saver tab at the top of the window. (4) Pull down the Screen Saver list of screen saver files and select AH3-1. The AH3-1 will now be highlighted in blue in the file selection window. (5) Now select the number of minutes for the computer to Wait after being idle before displaying the screen saver (5 minutes is good). (6) Click the Apply button and then the OK button. The window will disappear and the screensaver is now activated. Once the screensaver is running, any keystroke or mouse movement will return the computer to its normal mode. Hope you enjoy it.
